Hello again!

I apologize in advance for the expected winmail.dat garbage that'll be on   
the end of this.  I'm still stuck in Windoze95 for mail until I can the   
the DNS folks to get my Linux machine registered.  Until then it's kind   
of blind to e-mail.  Another battle for legitimacy of 'non standard'   
setups.  I'll win, eventually (cross fingers).

Anyway, here's the deal:
It's a Zenith 486DX/100 running 1.2.13 off the Slackware 3.0 CD and   
serving as a single-port PPP server.  I just upgraded it from 12Mb to (!)   
128MB.  The piddly little DOS partition recognizes the memory, as does   
the BIOS, so the SIMMS are seated correctly.

I've tried every combination of 'append="mem=128M"' and 'mem=128M' I can   
think of, in various spots in lilo.conf, and yet I still only get 64MB   
recognized.  I've also tried stating the amount as 131072k and it makes   
no difference.

Is there something non-obvious going on here?  I've read how-to and   
README files from all over, and everything seems to point to I've done it   
right.  Still the 'free' command laughs at my efforts.  Help?
