Well,

  A bit of inside wisdom...  When the "setup" for slackware recommends
you don't re-install the "A" series of disks -- DON'T DO IT.  It blew
away my root disk and my machine went down.  I was unable to bring it
back up.  I tried the original boot disks that I used to install but it
wouldn't find my AHA2940 UltraWide card.   (Yes it was a 2940 boot disk)
I ended up borrowing a 2940 from a friend and re-installed linux on a
different disk (had a spare.)  Then I fsck'ed the old disk and manually
copied over my old files....  Moral of the story?  DON'T DO IT!!!
