Yes.  You have to look at the modem manual and set the response messages
appropiately.  Usual values are X7, &Q and &K though it depends on the
modem manuafacturer.  This will report connection (nad you weant dce/dce
connection, not the 57600 you are connecting to modem as Zoom defaults
to).  You will need to set your chat script -v and it will be printed in
the log (local2 for me):
