[ale] ext2 partition dead...

Hi everyone -

I've strange problem with an ide drive's partition...  it kills my system
when I mount or do anything with it.  I've tried all the ext2 utilities
to no avail.  The other partitions on the same physical drive are
just fine... The errors I get are ..

lde: read failed in EXT2_read_inode_bitmap

anyone have similar experiences? any ideas?
