Job Specs:
Our client, located in Alpharetta, is looking to make a 3 month to perm hire for their team.
Basically what they are looking for is a Sys Admin with 2-4 years of Linux Admin skills that has some virtualization experience as well. The client is using KVM and Ovirt open source products but are open to the candidate having VMware or any other standard virtualization tool, as long as the person is willing to learn the ones they are using.

Here is some additional information about the tech skills required and responsibilities - the customer has availability to interview candidates the week of 1/13.

1. Systems Virtualization experience with Open Source products, clustering with KVM or Ovirt (These are the products they are using. They are also open to experience with VMWare or other mainstream virtualization products as long as the person is willing to train and work with KVM and Ovirt). They need someone at a junior engineer level, there will be some support involved. They will be involved with the design of the environment and then support the operations that use it (level 2 support). Right now they are cleaning up issues and problems so 50/50 engineering/support but will move more towards more engineering.
2.Scripting (any standard scripting language Shell, Python, Perl, BASH).
3. Linux Sys Admin Experience - need to really understand how the operating system works - i.e. know basic commands, directory structure, checking processes, disk space checking, utilization, understand IO, understand kernel performance, systems performance and load, need to know how system works so if there are problems they can troubleshoot. Need to understand the systems they are virtualizing.
Work in a highly collaborative and dynamic environment to engineer, develop and integrate a variety of systems and applications in multiple environments. Tasks include, but are not limited to:

* Engage in the support, design and strategic direction of Virtualization initiatives
* Participate in a wide variety of projects within the organization. Projects would be a reflection of the candidate's skill set, growth and ambition
* System design, administration and performance tuning
* Maintain and support virtualization technologies and infrastructure
* Application and OS deployment automation, including framework development
* System provisioning and capacity planning
They have so many unique applications that they build a custom framework to do rapid deployment. There is a lot of scripting involved. It is a custom application so it requires some development. This will be 10-15% of the role. - Developing scripts, not related to virtualization. Involved with provisioning and application deployment.)

A typical day will be oriented be oriented around a small team. They will usually have issues from the offshore team. They will check emails to start off and investigate those problems. They will do initial support, be involved in team and project meetings. Working with new systems, migrations, and deploying new containers. They will work with the storage team to design the system or the systems people to get system deployed. Communication and cooperation is huge in their environment. They will be working with many 2-3 person teams. Virtualization is a key initiative for the organization.

Great, fast paced environment with emphasis on quality, efficiency and automation. This person will get to work with a lot of high level tools. They support personal growth and allow engineers to develop their careers. This person will be part of a big infrastructure project: the new data center build in 2014. They will be deploying those new systems.

Salary range for this position = 65-80K/year based on experience level.
