Hi Jim,

I’m reaching out to my network of people who I have either met or spoken to
in the past. I was hoping you could help me out in recommending any sharp Linux
Engineers who might be interested in exploring better job opportunities.
Please be aware that we cannot actively recruit candidates from our
existing clients. If you know of anyone that may be interested in a more
detailed discussion, please feel free to forward my message along.

Here are the details for the two different roles within the same company.
The salary range is 65-80K (some potential flexibility on the salary -
excellent
benefits).

Job #1 -Unix/Linux Engineer

Familiarity with continuous delivery infrastructure is preferable.

Additionally, architectural design work is highly preferred to identify

issues that impede efficient servicing of analysis or client requests.

Designing and maintaining an active backup site--particularly how the

two sites interact and cooperate when both are in full operation--is

also a plus.

Required:

1) Strong problem solving skills and interest in Malware (protecting
information)

2) Strong background with administering Linux systems

3) U.S. Citizen - Degree Required

Preferred:

1) Cisco networking experience

Candidate would be responsible for the day-to-day operational health of

approximately 100 systems both baremetal and virtual. These systems

are running Ubuntu Server 64-bit with configuration management via puppet.

They are responsible for a fairly complex automated malware analysis

and threat sharing platform comprised of a number of pieces of software

including but not limited to Apache ActiveMQ, MongoDB, python 2.7,

Apache, ZeroMQ, and VMware ESXi. Portions of the system require

baremetal analysis with Windows-based operating systems (currently only XP
SP2).

Other parts of the system involve using kvm virtualization with Windows XP

SP2 images (soon to be additional versions). When pieces of this

system are down, the candidate should be able to identify the issue

(either through monitoring or through servicing trouble tickets) and

remedy the situation as quickly as possible (within the 8x5 workweek;

no after-hours or on call necessary).

As a part of this support, the candidate would be responsible for

maintaining the overarching application using public and in-house

developed monitoring and configuration tools. The candidate would

monitor and document issues with respect to hardware failures and

capacity Planning.

Job #2 - Unix/Linux Engineer

Candidate would be responsible for ongoing feature development of an

n-tier Python application. Familiarity with Linux and enterprise

architecture patterns is a must as the system encompasses virtualized

hosts, message queues, a web presentation layer and a large NoSQL data

store running on Ubuntu Server. The system is a large-scale malware

analysis platform that provides an anonymous, trusted community for

automated analysis and information exchange.

Candidate must be comfortable with self-led problem solving in a fast-

paced environment during the normal 8x5 work week. We use Scrum to

manage our development process so familiarity with Agile techniques is

preferable.

Required:

1) 1+ years developing large scale software in Linux.

2) Experience developing in dynamic languages.

3) Experience working with distributed version control systems.

4) Experience designing and implementing NoSQL databases, preferably
MongoDB.

5) Experience with hardware virtualization in Linux and VMWare ESXi.

6) U.S. Citizen - Degree Required

Preferred:

1) Proficiency with Scrum.

2) Familiarity with Continuous Delivery techniques.

3) CISSP or like certification

Regards,

Gene Smith
