6 month contract (Potential to go perm)

Top Three Skills:



1) Expert Puppet knowledge- specify system configuration in Puppet manifests, complex resource dependencies, and compilation into catalogs for distribution to target systems/servers. Be able to script from scratch.

2) Apache Maven- build automation tool. Ability to build orders, directories, and plug-ins.

3) Experience with Jenkins- be able to config jobs, setup API's, continuous delivery, etc. Must be able to use the complex functions like automated code merging and script from scratch.

4) Linux- Must be able to work in Linux environment.

Job Description:



The Portal Development team is continuing the Uptime 24/7 iniative. The goal is rolling deployments and continuous delivery. This person would be helping me lead a team of 5 (India, US, Brazil).

Day to Day: They will spend 100% of their time improving and enhancing the continuous delivery strategy. This will involve complex automation and scripting for Devops. THIS IS NOT FOR PRODUCTION deployments. This will be portal deployments to Dev & QA. They will also debug packaging and deployment issues.

If local- 1 step F2F with Janie and her CM team lead- discuss skills, deployment schedules they have worked within, how much automation they have done and development and packaging, as well as continuous delivery experience.

If not local- Phone screen talking over the same. LOCAL CANDIDATE PREFERRED.

Wednesday 1 - 3 and 4 - 6.
Thursday 10 to 2
Friday 10:30 to 1:30, and after 3:30.

By hitting the goal of continuous delivery as close to every hour as possible, code can be deployed to products quicker, allowing upgrades and customer pains to be alleviated quicker. This will ensure customer satisfaction and increase customer retention.

Business Challenge:



Current State- Portal Team deployments are daily. This means that many of the updates are not seen for 24 hours, which can delay a product being upgraded or given the new functionality a customer demands. If customers are not getting what they need, they are not going to stay with our client. This could cause issues in customer retention and a decrease in overall sales.

Our client is an international Fortune 500 company that is all over the globe. They are the leader in their industry. This particular team is not siloed into one product. They are seen by the entire organization. This resource is also tied to one of the top company strategies- Uptime 24/7. Non-Technical Skills:



Excellent oral and written communication skills due to the team being spread out and the many teams Portal works with.

Why is position open?:



They need to add another resource to help with the automation/continuous delivery strategy and currently cannot accomplish the goals with current workforce.
