SYSTEMS ENGINEER II

Job Description

LodgeNet Interactive Corporation, the leading provider of media and
connectivity solutions designed to meet the unique needs of hospitality,
healthcare and other guest-based businesses, is seeking qualified
candidates for the position of Systems Engineer II in Atlanta, GA.  This
is a full-time, exempt position.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

Primarily responsible for ensuring the reliable operation of the base of
LodgeNet Broadband Solutions High Speed Internet Access (HSIA)  and
associated collocation point of presence (POP) equipment. Works closely
with Contact Center Specialists in troubleshooting and resolving field
issues.  Facilitates communication between Engineering Operations and
external vendors.

Duties include but are not limited to the following: Systems
Administration, internal support, documentation, and production systems
maintenance. Some key tasks and responsibilities follow:
Establish criteria for and Configure/maintain servers, operating systems
and support systems in production and lab environments.
Responsible for identification, isolation, correlation, impact
definition, and prioritization of field issues.
Works with internal groups to identify and deploy resolutions for large
scale issues.
Review, contribute to and conduct training for higher order Support
Specialists support.
Provides hardware and operating systems input into software development
projects.
Review and provide feedback on new technical documentation.
Provide support to other system engineers.
Desired Skills & Experience

Candidates considered qualified for the position will possess the
following minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Four-year technical degree or equivalent (BS in Computer Science,
Software Engineering, etc.) required.
Four years work experience in software engineering/coding, debugging or
database experience along with a minimum of two years related technical
experience with  local and wide area network installation and support is
required.
Familiarity with the Unix Operating System (CentOS/Ubuntu Linux and
FreeBSD) and Unix scripting experience (Shell, Perl, or Python) is
essential.
System Performance tuning and virtualization experience is preferred.
Experience with open source system and network management tools (Rancid,
Puppet, or CFEngine) preferred.
Experience using MySQL and/or PostgreSQL preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
Must be able to prioritize and complete project tasks with minimal
supervision.
Use of MS Word, Excel, Access, Outlook and PowerPoint is required.
