Thompson Technologies has an immediate and exciting full time opportunity in
Atlanta, GA for a Linux Systems Engineer.  The candidate will be part of a
team supporting high-availability web hosting in a 24/7 environment.  The
candidate will be responsible for maintaining physical infrastructure and
supporting software integration in all phases of the development and
production cycle.****

*You will use your skills and experience in the following:*****

   - At least 5 years of experience in a web hosting environment preferred.
   ****
   - Linux administration (about 90%) and Solaris, HP-UX, Windows Server
   (10%) ****
   - Perl, shell, python or other scripting language skills****
   - Apache implementation, tuning and customization****
   - Netapp storage administration is a plus ****
   - Experience with virtualization is a plus. ****
   - Familiarity with supporting database servers (Oracle, MySQL, or,
   Postgres) in a high-availability high-performance clustered environment is a
   plus.****

*Additional Notes*

**·         **The open position was The Sr. Manager’s position until he was
promoted. ****

**·         **The position will manage 6-7 reports. ****

**·         **All Linux. They have maybe 3 Windows boxes that they never
touch.****

**·         **There is a 24x7 on call person who reports to the Manager.****

**·         **Candidate should be capable in shell scripting. Python is not
a hard and fast requirement. It would be a plus but they expect the right
candidate could pick it up quickly.****

**·         **They don’t anticipate that the team will beyond 6 or 7 team
members. If it does, they would hire another manager.****

**·         **The manager will be responsible for building a good rapport
with team and conducting weekly one-on-one meetings with team members. About
60-70% of the manager’s time will be spent on management activities and
30-40% on hands on activities.****
