Hi everyone,

The lab where Mark Heiges and I work is hiring a web developer with a
scientific twist! If you're interested, go to the UGA job site [0] and

Job Summary:
The Kissinger Research Group is looking for a scientific web developer
to join a large team working on highly visible web resources
for parasitic pathogens (www.eupathdb.org). This position will design,
implement and maintain front-end and back-end software for
web and Oracle based biological database systems. He/she will work
collaboratively on a team of approximately 20 software developers
and biologists to translate scientific requirements generated by the
user community into effective interfaces and data
representations. The incumbent must be current on the latest Java and
web technologies as he/she will be expected to build and
maintain this website with the application of cutting edge technology.
This position will offer leadership in web-based front-end
design and implementation decisions for complex scientific data and will
occasionally participate in the preparation of scientific
papers and technical documentation.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies:
* Detailed knowledge of Java, Javascript, jQuery, Ajax, CSS/HTML, JSP,
Struts and web services
* Knowledge of SQL, Perl, Tomcat and Apache are also highly desirable
* An interest in bioinfomatics and genomics applications is highly
desirable and experience a strong plus

Job duties:
45 	* Implementation, documentation (include comments), testing and
maintenance of UI-related code, front-end (View: jsp pages, css
and javascript)
25 	* Implementation, documentation (include comments), testing and
maintenance of web services-related code
15 	* Implementation, documentation, testing and maintenance of java
plug-ins for a portal website that communicates with a growing
number of component websites
10 	* Participate in UI-infrastructure meetings (once a week) or any
appropriate call to participate on system/software design
decisions. Participate in lab meetings. Occasionally, the candidate will
present his work or work of others in an area of interest.
5 	* Additional duties as assigned
