Pentaho/ETL/BI/MySQL Consulting Opportunity

Emory University School of Law, located in Atlanta, Georgia, solicits proposals from a consultant to work 20-30 hours per week on ramping up a Business Intelligence initiative at the law school. The goal is to assist the Law School in developing an ongoing data maintenance and warehousing strategy to load data from PeopleSoft and other line of business apps into a MySQL database to be used as the basis for a Pentaho reporting solution. Most work will be performed off-site, although twice per month meetings on-site are required.

Scope

·      Assists Information Technology at Emory School of Law in developing a BI solution for senior management at the Law School

·      Designs and implements BI and data integration solutions using Pentaho BI Suite Community Edition

·      Develops, refines, and optimizes ETL solutions for moving data from PeopleSoft system to Pentaho/MySQL databases

·      Develops queries and reports responding to requirements of senior management

·      Documents ETL processes, queries, and reports

·      Trains law school IT staff and others within the law school in effective use of Pentaho CE solution

Required Skills

·      Ability to clearly explain ETL, BI, and data warehousing concepts and benefits to management and technical audiences

·      Creative analysis, design and development skills

·      Ability to document work processes and train others

Technical Background

·      3-5 years experience working with business intelligence and data integration tools and development processes such as ETL and dimensional modeling of data

·      3-4 years experience working with web and database application development tools, standards and languages including SQL, MDX, XML, Java, JSP, web services, Javascript and HTML/XSLT

·      3-5 years experience working with Linux, MySQL, Java and Tomcat

·      Familiarity with or experience and education in Java software development, enterprise software architectures a strong plus

Education

·      B.A. or B.S. degree from an accredited university with a major in business, computer science or MIS required
