[ALE-jobs] Senior UNIX (Solaris & RHEL) Engineer position - Atlanta: contract-to-hire

Greetings!  We have a client here in Atlanta that is looking to hire a
Sr. UNIX Engineer on a contract-to-hire basis.

 

Here's a quick description:

 

The UNIX Engineer is responsible for designing, developing and
implementing systems to support the technical capabilities. For success
in this role, one must be able to work effectively in a fluid,
fast-paced environment.  This role requires good communication skills,
both with team members and business contacts.  In addition, the
successful Engineer must be able to work with minimal supervision on
multiple concurrent projects or tasks.

 

Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

*         Participate in the design and implementation of new or
changing systems based on customer needs and internal guidelines

*         Participate in problem solving and troubleshooting for
assigned areas

*         Share knowledge by effectively documenting work and processes

*         Stay current on new technology and methodologies in area of
expertise

*         Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of assigned support
areas

*         Work with the team to ensure the quality of implementations 

*         Proactively generate solutions for managing a large system
base

*         Respond quickly and effectively to production issues and take
responsibility for seeing those issues through resolution.

*         Mentor less experienced Engineers

*         Manage and address trouble tickets as assigned

*         Provide weekly status and hour tracking for all projects and
tasks.

*         Participate in on-call rotation of 24x7 support and be
flexible in availability as needed

 

Qualifications:

*         Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience

*         UNIX/Linux system administration with large server base (100+)
for a minimum of 5 years

*         Strong communication, teamwork and customer relational skills 

*         Strong technical problem solving skills

*         Ability to quickly learn and apply new technology and
methodologies

*         Ability to solve problems rapidly and completely

*         Solid understanding of security and network/distributed
computing concepts

*         Solaris 9 or 10 management and provisioning in a production
environment

*         RHEL 3,4, or 5 management and provisioning in a production
environment

*         Writing and maintaining UNIX shell scripts

*         LDAP, NFS, DNS, SSH, Sendmail, Jumpstart, Kickstart, Apache

*         Solaris Disk Suite, Linux LVM

*         Red Hat Satellite & Proxy Server
