As a member of the Operations team, you will be responsible for the
configuration, maintenance, and monitoring of our internal, development, and
customer facing *NIX-based servers. Duties will include, but are not limited
to, loading server OS’s, configuring specific applications, monitoring
server performance, tuning applications / operating systems to achieve
better performance, and reacting to any hardware / software failures on
those servers. There will be travel opportunities for this position.
Responsibilities:

Build / design / deploy new servers for customer facing applications
Monitor *NIX-based servers (BSD, Debian Linux) for any hardware / software
failures and work to correct them
Assist in designing network / servers that best fit the applications and
allow for as much redundancy and recoverability as possible (e.g. multiple
web servers behind a load balancer with front-end caches and backend
database replication)
Work with numerous Open Source applications to build real-world redundant
application-level systems (i.e. Apache, MySQL, PHP, etc…)
Maintain/improve network/system monitoring applications and be a part of the
team responsible for responding to network/systems issues
Setup/configure/maintain monitoring applications
Design/develop custom monitoring scripts tailored to our environment
Own various customer-facing applications; responsible for monitoring to
insure our customers are receiving the absolute best service possible
Preferred Experience:

Working in a 24x7, production, customer-facing environment required
Experience with various flavors of UNIX/Linux; specifically BSD and Debian
Shell scripting experience (bash, ksh, etc…) required
Heavy experience with building / deploying Open Source software
Ability to build/deploy/tweak/maintain Apache, PHP, MySQL setups
Database experience a plus – particularly MySQL
Understanding of programming both applications and OS level changes (i.e.
kernel configurations, etc…)
Experience with Open Source monitoring/security software (Nagios, Cacti,
MRTG, nTop, nmap, nessus, snort, etc…)
Experience writing applications in PHP a plus.
