Our client is searching for a senior level Systems Engineer to join
their team on an initial 6 month contract. The successful candidate must
have a track record of achieving success in a dynamic, fast-paced start
up environment.  Superior communication skills, the ability to work
across the organization, excellent analytical skills, a professional
demeanor and the ability to participate in a team environment are keys
to this position. 

 

Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

*         Administer 700+ Linux systems.  Scripting and automating
routine tasks.

*         Coordinating with external providers

o        Working with these providers to define and implement Service
Level Agreements and manage their compliance

*         Creating and managing the production of periodic scorecards to
be used to measure the effectiveness of technical operations groups and
adherence to Operating Level Agreements

*         Ensure all issues regarding system or network automated alerts
are logged, tracked, and resolved. Manage alerts and events through the
trouble ticket tool.    

*         Providing recommendations on tools to monitor and support all
environments and implement as necessary

*         Operating the company's monitoring tools to quickly and
efficiently deal with site problems and performance issues

*         Following the change management process to control changes to
production systems with regards to physical or system updates

*         Making process and systems improvement recommendations to
assist the business in achieving its goals and objectives, leveraging
best practices and professional experiences

*         Developing and maintaining capacity/growth plans

*         Collaborating closely with and assisting application
development teams when required to ensure timely delivery of new
systems, enhancements and bug fixes

*         Resolve operational issues through support tickets and alerts
from network and system monitoring tools.

*         Coordinate activities with field support operations.

*         Self manage to project dates and milestones. 

 

Qualifications (Required):

*          Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field or
equivalent work experience

*          Hands on experience supporting networks and servers
infrastructure

*          5+ years experience in technology infrastructure groups

*          5+ years in managing Linux systems

*          5+ years experience working in large scale web environments

*          Excellent problem solving skills with strong attention to
detail

 

Qualifications (Preferred):

*         Managing Cisco equipment such as 6500s, 7600s, 7500s, 2950s,
3550s and 3750s a plus.

*         Experience with monitoring tools such Hyperic, SolarWinds,
Cacti, BMC Patrol or NetScout a plus.

Managing F5 BigIP systems
