Job Description	JOB DESCRIPTION: Plans and implements one or more
muli-platform operating systems, utilities, and related software to meet
organizational needs. May be responsible for applications on dedicated
servers. Ensures the availability, integrity and reliability of assigned
systems.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Five years of operating systems
analysis/administration experience OR a bachelor's degree and three
years of operating systems analysis/administration experience.
Preferred Qualifications	Preferred: Strong technical skills, the ability
and desire to stay abreast of new leading edge technology, and the
ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders.

Highly desirable qualifications for this position include:
•Significant experience with web technologies; including Apache, Java EE
(e.g. JSF, Hibernate, Spring) or MVC frameworks like Rails or Django
•Solid Proficiency with HTML, XML, XSLT, XQuery, and CSS
•Programming experience with Java, PHP, JavaScript, or Python and web
services for complex, multi-tier applications
•Experience with object oriented design
•Experience with relational databases
•Experience with the Metadata standards
•Experience with the repository software or robust content management
systems
•Experience with open source programs and tools
•Previous experience being technical lead in a team oriented software
development environment
•Fundamental Linux system administration skills
Additional Job Details	System Technical Lead will design, develop,
deploy and maintain library systems in support of scholarly research.

Responsibilities include:
•Design, develop, test and document complex data retrieval, storage and
presentation systems.
•Provide technical leadership for
--proper version control on software developed
--system architecture design
--unit tests (where needed)
--deploy tested code
--the establishment and documentation of system architecture standards
and best practices
•Test and deploy web applications developed by EUL staff or other
third-parties as needed
•Work to ensure interoperability with other library and university
systems, where appropriate
•Work in consultation with project managers, librarian and staff
stakeholders to understand and refine project functional requirements
•Remain current and knowledgeable of industry technological advances,
their uses and their readiness for production deployment
•Perform other duties as needed to accomplish the goals of the team and
the libraries
•Participate in library and university committees and in professional
development activities as needed to support and meet the changing
environment of the library and the academic community
