Linux System Engineer (Suse or Redhat)

This dynamic organization is seeking a Systems Engineer to work with
the team. This environment is 95% Linux (Redhat / Suse). They also
have Some Solaris 10 boxes and Windows is a bonus.

Duties:
This candidates will be responsible for providing production and
development deployment / support, storage configuration, and support
of the testing and staging environments for our 24x7x365 heterogeneous
UNIX and Windows environment.

He/she must possess very strong technical and problem solving skills
within an enterprise server environment.

The engineer will support the management of system resources, problem
analysis, system troubleshooting, COTS and patch installations, system
integration, hardware upgrades and maintenance support.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES:
Determine operational requirements by identifying workload
requirements analyzing processes and procedures, and establishing
physical requirements.

Identify systems configs. by analyzing operating systems, application
programs, and equip. processing speed, cost constraints and security
measures.

Ability to analyze workflow and implement process improvements.

Maximize performance by providing innovative processes and tools.

Improve performance and system environments by evaluating and
recommending new products and services.

Maintain the systems by analyzing architecture, testing systems,
analyzing operating systems, and monitoring usage.

Create and update system and procedural documentation.

Hands on deployment and support of enterprise hardware.

Schedule installations / upgrades and maintains them in accordance
with established IT policies and procedures.

Required Skills:

8 years of IT Experience.

6 years of UniX System administration, architecture and planning for
enterprise level organizations.

Strong Experience with Linux (Redhat / Suse).

Exp. with Solaris 10

Exp. with Windows would be a huge bonus.

Must be able to configure and support systems administration tools and
understand monitoring and storage solutions.

Extensive knowledge of Storage Mgmt., Operating System hardening and
filesystem clustering.

Strong Server Hardware and software config. and troubleshooting exp.,
including clustering, RAID and Volume Managers etc.

Strong understanding on Networking protocols such as TCPIP, DHCP, VPN,
FTP, SMTP, SNMP, DNS, HTTP, and etc.

Working knowledge of at least two scripting languages (Python, Ruby,
Perl, PHP, VB Script).
