Sr. Level Linux/VMware Architect

Work Description:

Acts independently with minimal direction to design and extend a
stable production infrastructure allowing for flexibility while
maintaining a secure environment.  A top level technical design
contributor in one or more highly specialized phases of infrastructure
architecture.  Supports the management team in providing leadership,
architectural guidance and expertise, and technical consulting in the
development, modification, and implementation of multiple highly
complex information systems that conform to MST standards and
methodology.  Translates customer requirements, recommending system
solutions and formulating detailed specifications from which
components are written.  Provides leadership in the evaluation and
recommendation of hardware and software solutions used throughout the
industry for use at MST.  With extensive technical and business
knowledge of all phases of applications system architecture with
strong technical (applications based) knowledge, provides strategic
focus on system solutions that cross MST FOBs.  May be responsible for
driving multiple projects to completion.  Independently researches and
resolves technical problems of the highest complexity.
Technical Skills:

Linux/VM Specialist

Service Delivery is responsible for developing the standards and
processes for technology planning, capacity planning, SLA definition
and third-level support for our infrastructure.  The position requires
the ability to work and partner with multiple teams on technology
design and implementation while providing operational direction and
proper turn over to the Service Support organization.  It also
requires experience in a broad range of Unix system administration
procedures such as server provisioning, tuning, monitoring,
troubleshooting, and upgrade planning and execution.  The working
environment is based on teams win, working towards one common goal.
Individuals must be able to create technology plans for given areas of
responsibility, understand and communicate the plan as it relates to
the total environment.  Knowledge on how technology ties into current
environment and future environment is a must.

Must have demonstrated experience (7+ years) in overall Linux 4.6/5.x
and VM system design and administration.
Must have expertise in Linux and VM server infrastructure design,
implementation, support, tuning, and troubleshooting.
Must be able to provide technical leadership and motivate teams toward
a common goal.
Must have Linux GFS Clustering expertise.
Must have experience with High Availability/failover, DR, and load
balanced environments.
Must have experience with Linux systems that will act as Oracle DB
servers or App/Web servers.
Must have experience with OS provisioning methods.
Must be knowledgeable of storage environments (SAN, NAS).
Must be proficient in shell-script programming and automation via
scripting (Perl, Python, Shell).
Must be able to learn, design, and implement new Unix platforms as
directions change.
Must have strong analytical, research, and problem solving skills.
Must have Excellent interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills.
Must be able to multitask and coordinate several projects simultaneously.
Must work well under pressure and with minimal supervision.
Must be able to work both independently and as part of a team.
Must be able to lead, motivate, and execute.
Must be able to address escalation items and conflicts in a timely,
motivational and productive manner.
Must be able to articulate ideas and motivate team to turn those ideas
into reality.
Must be able to produce documentation processes and procedures
Participation in on-call, after-hours and weekend support is expected.
