<p>Last time I read over them, the PCIe standards dictate that it
must work both ways, following the limits of the LCD. <br>
</p>
<p>I've used numerous LSI PCIe-v3 SAS cards in v2 and v1 slots
(system that don't support v3 at all).<br>

Hmmm. Are you sure the backward compatibility is in that direction? I
was under the impression one could put a v2 card on a v3 mobo, but not
necessarily the reverse.
