Jim, you are correct, we did meet at the HAM event. I'll be reaching out to the school super to see if there is a possibility of making some space available for a hacker/maker space. They had the perfect place (the industrial arts building in the old FCHS, but just converted it to the beehive about 8 months ago). As to a Linux meeting space, I'm also going to approach GMC, which opens in a brand new building on Aug 3, about allowing us to meet in one of their classrooms. Allowing the dust to settle and them to get up to speed, I should think that a launch date in Sept. should be feasable. Fourth Th. 6:0pm or later would work best for me since I have FCDA meeting at 4:00 and it rarely goes past 5:30 and I'm therefore in the area.

On Sun, Jul 5, 2015 at 6:45 AM, Jim Lynch <ale_nospam@fayettedigital.com> wrote:

Greg, I believe I met you at our amateur radio field site last year in Senoia. As you know we are working on getting a charter school started in the old Brooks Elementary School building and the lady heading up that project is very interested in getting a maker space established. I don't know if a joint effort is feasible but there is one possibility. I should think with the studio now in town we will have more technical people available to support a maker space. I'm 100% behind you on this.
+1 for the southside. I too am in Fayetteville and I'm pretty sure I can find a free space to meet, cause "I know some people..." since I am after all the Mayor and all. Furthermore, I would LOVE to have a hacker/maker space here. There may be a chance of using some underutilized school space for free. I'll check on that next week. Happy Independence Day to all!
