I've been racking my brain for ours on this and am
exhausting my years of modem experience.

I've created a modem bank at Peak 10. I have device installed
calling this bank. One of these sites has 6 locations around
NY. When I call them I get a connection as fast as I can get.
When they call me their modems can not sync. All modems are the
same. Conexant USB 0529:1340 USB modems. The only way I can get
them to sync when calling me is to have mgetty use the initstring
AT+MS=v32,1. This forces a 9600baud connection. Unfortunately
this means all other modems are forced down to that speed when
they call. I can't modify the initstring on the device (yet).

What I'm trying to do is figure out what could be going on that
allows a fast connection to those modems, but a reliable reverse
connection is not possible.

Any ideas?
