In large environments it is often very beneficial to have both administrative and end user accounts use the same the UID/GIDs even if you're not doing NFS.<br>

Actually, for nominal backups, it helps to keep uids/gids matched, but don't go crazy over it for that purpose. NFS is 90% of the reason for me and only end-user accounts matched ... not-so-much for service accounts.<br>
