<p dir="ltr">first, take the drive out of the external enclosure and connect it directly via IDE or SATA, the USB adapters in those drives are shitty $0.30 Chinese parts that can't handle any sort of drive issues, so hooking it up directly resolves a lot of issues. </p>
<p dir="ltr">if you can see the drive in your computer's BIOS, check to make sure the size is reported correctly, and if it is, run ddrescue immediately and image the drive. from there use whatever tool you want to mount/extract the data. </p>
