Abstract:
====
This will be a hands-on demonstration starting with a VERY quick overview of KVM
virtualization capabilities, performance options, and setup, then move to an
interactive installation onto a basic server configured with just ssh, minimal
GUI and nothing else.
Bring a vt-x/amd-v capable Linux system, wired ethernet port (NOT WiFi) and
follow along. We will setup a bridge, install kvm, virt-manager and setup a few
VMs on the local machine.

Ubuntu 14.04 Beta2 (RC1-ish) will be used for the hostOS. Installation/Setup
instructions for RPM-based distros will be available.

Preparation to follow along:
1) Check for vmx or svm support inside /proc/cpuinfo – verify
system HW virtualization capability.
2) DO NOT have other virtualization installed – no VirtualBox or
VMware. Bad things can happen if there is a conflict. Dual boot
is fine with just 10G of storage for this OS.

If you don't have a system capable of VT-x, KVM will not run, period.

Please spread the word.
