I just got my first chance to try a USB 3 port on the motherboard that I have. I finally got my hands on a USB 3 enclosure and stuck the new WD 2 TB Black drive mentioned in another thread in it.<br>

I'm getting transfer rates of around 100 MB / sec to the drive, which is limited by the spinning platters. I love it. That's 2-3 times what I was ever able to get out of USB 2.<br>

The interface should be capable of close to 500 MB / sec if I had anything that could absorb data that fast.<br>
<br>
If I have to do any backups to external media, they're going on THAT motherboard connection. That should be less painful than before.<br>
