As far as I understood the UUID should just point to the partition on the disk device presented to the OS (with the individual disk members hidden by the RAID hardware). I'm making only one stripe on the disks and two partitions on the stripe (root and swap). Everything seems to work fine using RAID1 but not RAID0. Perhaps I should just make a small RAID1 stripe for /boot and a large RAID0 stripe for root.<div>

I just did tests on both drives in the array and they're both fine, no<br>
issues with either one of them. So now I'm even more confused about the<br>
errors.<br>

After installing on the array configured in RAID0, the bootloader is<br>
unable to find a partition with the UUID (the error is no such device<br>
/dev/disk/by-uuid/{UUID}. When I installed under RAID 1, both drives had<br>
identical partitions (as they should) and they both had the same UUID and<br>
bootup proceeded normally. I even unmirrored the drives and booted each<br>
one separately (after changing the UUID on one of them slightly) and had no<br>
issues there. So there's something going on with RAID 0 (LSI SAS<br>
controller) that I'm not understanding.<br>

Having backups was the intent. This array is supposed to hold the OS.<br>
Regular data is going on three external arrays later. Right now I'm<br>

it's RAID 0 but Dell just calls it striping across drives in the BIOS.<br>
