Thanks for the tip and the link. The problem is that, once this thing is deprived of power, it will not turn back on unless you press the power button on the control panel. Anything I do to the external power circuit won't work, unless I prevent the power failure altogether.<br>

When someone(s) mentioned inrush current and warranty, which I should have thought of, that threw a monkey wrench in all my plans. This is a stand alone unit. About the only way I could do something without voiding my 5 year extended warranty is to have an electromechanical finger on top to press the power button. It's very frustrating, but, I don't know if I want to go to that much trouble.<br>
