Hi all,

I need some help with wifi settings on my Android 4 (ICS) tablet.

I need it to do the following when connecting to wifi:

1) Never connect to any wifi that I haven't selected. (I think I have that covered by turning off open wifi notifications. However, I'm interested in other people's comments.

2) If I'm in range of two or more wifi spots I have selected, I want it to access them in a priority that I specify, not based on it's automatic algorithm. For example, at my house, I have router A, which my wife uses for work, and router B, which I used for everything else. My tablet insists on connecting to her router preferentially. I don't want to force it to forget her router's password as I occasionally have to connect to it. I want the autoconnect feature on for my router and off for hers.

3) I want to find out if there is a built in Android firewall and what it's status is. I want to make sure there are no open ports on the machine for those times that I'm on an open wifi. I don't want it responding to any communications from the outside that I didn't initiate.

4) I have an account with Hotspot VPN, which I use when I have my laptop on the road. I want to use it with the tablet, but don't know how.

Any help is appreciated. At this time, I do not have root access to the device.

Thanks in advance.

Sincerely,

Ron
