it was “an interview with $NAME, the originator of Sabayon Linux”),
I liked what I read, researched it, installed it in a vm. Over the course
of this weekend, I installed it on my Debian box (replacing Debian).

xfce4). Looks real nice. Install was a breeze, though the file
system creation had to be run twice (running raid 10 using mdadm). Most
installers crap out when I try complex file system creation (mdadm, raid, LVM
on top of that). Package management is done with a binary package manager
called Entropy. First order of business was installing about 750 new
updates. It is not as fast as synaptic or aptitude. Perhaps about
as fast as yum or yumex. Finished without any hiccups. The folks on
#sabayon freenode server were very helpful and not one RTFM.

I was in the same position as you, once. I wouldn't run
testing on my desktop because freezes keep it broken for a long time, and I was
tired of keeping up with Sid. I switched to Arch Linux. Arch is the way to go
in my opinion. The package managent is relatively familiar to a Debian user, but
easier to build packages for and to use.
