</div>What? As long as you go with a decent brand, the research I've done says<br>
30+ years. Certainly not 'a few years.'<br></blockquote><div><br>This _really_ depends of media, burn speed, storage environment, etc. <br><br>slow burn speed, really top quality media (look for archival quality - $$$$), cool, _dark_ (no UV of any kind - no florescent lights).<br>
<br>CD/DVD dyes will degrade over time (chemistry happens!) so slow burn makes more intense data bit and the rest is all about slowing down the change.<br><br>Purchased DVD media uses a stamp process to make the pits and lands so is not subject to the same type of degradation process.<br>
