First, question, we thought the same thing so, we used the IP address and still had the same issue.<div><br></div><div>The administrator then went to his machine and was able to log into the box. He then was able to set up an account for me which is now working. </div>

Are you using the correct IP address? I have seen similar problems
when logging into a VPN connection with wrong IP address.<br>
<br>
Not sure if this is true with SSH, but could you be using the wrong
security settings/protocol? Another quirky problem I have seen with
VPN's<span class="HOEnZb"><font color="#888888"><br>
