It's seemed that recently I've had nothing but crummy luck with my Asus Eee netbook. Most recently I'm having an issue logging in via the lightdm login manager. When I log in the screen flickers to a black terminal for a moment and then I'm booted back to the login prompt again.<div>
<br></div><div>Thinking it was a video driver issue I blacklisted the radeon driver and installed the fglrx package. I received the same results as before. I've skimmed through several log files as well but I've not found anything particularly incriminating, then again I'm not really sure which logs I should be looking at so I could be missing it. I'm not sure if it helps but I should probably also note that the last time this successfully worked was the other day before I had to hard reset the system due to a graphics driver bug I've also been trying to hunt down on this thing.<div>
<br></div><div>I am able to "sudo startx" successfully from tty1 after logging in to console as my normal user. I assume lightdm does some policykit and dbus magic that startx does not. I have no idea if this would have anything to do with the issue here.</div>
<div><br></div><div>I'm open to trying about anything at this point. If anyone's got ideas, I'm all ears. I've tried everything that I can think of with my limited knowledge of the new ways Ubuntu does things these days (what was wrong with /boot/grub/menu.lst? :-P ).<br clear="all">
