<p>Super cool use of pgadmin: run gui local an tunnel over ssh to db machine!<br>
Set up ssh tunnel from local port 5432 to remote 5432 and connect to server localhost.<br>
If you use ssl connection to remote db local gui can handle rhat as well.<br>
Lastly (for a good reason) postgresql can be configured to accept connections from defined IP address and user/pw combinations directly. </p>
