Brian,<div><br><div>No, the problem wasn't with the HDD drivers it was with the partitioning and location of / and /boot. With help from Jim K and some of the other folks on the list, plus the CentOS how to page, I was able to properly configure the software RAID and I got the system out the door yesterday.</div>
<div>Thanks to all who replied. This was my first CentOS install and basically my first Linux install on a software RAID. Boss wasn't happy that it took so long to figure out, but on the whole it was pretty painless and I'm much more confident in my partitioning skills.</div>

When I did the initial install, the installer saw the 3Ware mirror set as the primary drive and wanted to install there, I told it to install to the WD drives and then went with defaults. I'm pretty sure you can't do /boot on LVM in RHEL/CentOS given that even when they default to an LVM layout during install they still always create /boot as the first hard partition and put LVM as the second hard partition.<br>

Every RHEL/CENTOS server we have has /boot on a partition rather than an LV for this reason. Never tried forcing it to LVM.<br>
