I'm with you 100%, brother. Add to the microwave reqs, the ability to not burn the popcorn!

It would be nice if microwaving instruction included the power rating of the test oven AND microwaves had a way input that number as part of the heating data input. There are some microwaves, marketed to the senior citizen and small children users, that have a scanner to read specially marked microwaveable meals. This will program the oven automagically. My mom has one and really loves it. She can heat a frozen dinner without her glasses on.

Now only if those dinners tasted better...

On Wed, Jun 8, 2011 at 6:15 PM, The Don Lachlan <ale-at-ale.org@unpopularminds.org> wrote:

Grumpy, not old. Design (like features) have been handed over to
marketing and "business" people, so it's less about making things
"better" and almost entirely about making things profitable, which
includes nonsense like "brand". Brands must be "distinct" and "unique",
which means non-functional when your competitor is functional. Pure
FLOSS projects don't care about profit but they still tend to care about
brand...

I just want to be able to walk up to a microwave and not spend time
figuring out how to heat up my damn leftovers.
