How often do you like to do full system upgrades?<br><br>often = latest release<br>seldom = LTS<br><br>I think Ubuntu LTS sticks to particular kernel/glibc/*lib* version for the lifetime (with backported security and bug patches) like what RedHat does with RHEL. <br>
<br>That all said, does the version you are tinkering with _run_ on the laptop. If it was built AFTER the drop-dead date for an LTS release (same for RHEL) the hardware may not be supported until the next LTS refresh release.<br>
