My WD HD TV Live Plus arrived yesterday. $98 on Amazon.<div><br></div><div>It works as advertised. Played my DIVX, AVI and dvd iso files without a hitch over hdmi.</div><div><br></div><div>Main reason I got it is 'cos I have a bunch of PAL encoded Region 2 dvd's from before I moved to the USA. Rip them to iso and they play fine.</div>
<div><br></div><div>I never bought the wifi add-on, so cannot comment on that. My tests were all off a USB HDD, will probably on get round to trying my NAS drive over the weekend.</div><div><br></div><div>The GUI is OK, but I may try some third party firmware just for the heck of it.</div>

I don't want to build one, but having one I could hack would be a bonus.<br>

There are several definitions of media players. The one I am looking<br>
for is basically a NAS drive with hdmi out.<br>
I put a .mp4 on the NAS drive, and it appears on the selection of<br>
shows to watch on the TV connected to the hdmi out.<br>
<br>
One unusual feature I hope to find is: the ability to play a video,<br>
but overlay the sound with a mp3.<br>
<br>
Any comments?<br>
