don't recall seeing that in this thread). If a bad mobo...I'd try the forums and see if<BR>
anyone has one they can part with. Past that I usually go with Ebay...I usually find what<BR>
I want there. Perhaps a buddy w/a parts stash? If memory or drives...same thing. I<BR>
have a small but growing pile of parts that I'm cycling out of my mainstream for modern<BR>
conventions. (HDMI will be the next one but I have yet to get a mobo that supports that).<BR>

Thanks guys, good advice. But I am the type that tries to wring the
last drop of blood out of equipment. I am already surrounded by three
PC's not to mention two laptops in the basement. A complete upgrade
would probably mean a fourth PC and I have already trouble moving
around in my room.
By the way, I can not remember the last time I had a HDD failure and I
use PC's nearly every day. I agree about the optical drives. A few
weeks ago my HP burner died, though it was probably at least five
years old.
On another note:
I recently got a Memorex USB burner with LightScribe capabilities, but
the Linux software for LightScribe is rather limited and the Nero
stuff (came with the drive) on my WindowsXP keeps pestering me about
upgrades, which I feel is a bait and switch maneuver. Anyone aware of
good Linux software for LightScribe other than that on the HP
LightScribe site?
