<p>Indeed that is correct. The 'ip' tool is an excellent management utility and for anyone doing anything with networking is highly recommended learning. The things that it can do compared to route and ifconfig are just totally awesome. Multiple rule-driven routing tables, easy tunnel creation, no arbitrary limits on the number of addresses that it can display, and the ability to assign multiple IP addresses to a single interface without aliased interfaces, among others...</p>
