I used to work on a PDP-1140 that was kinda that way. Huge platters and perfect for frisbee or making clocks (but too big for skeet shooting -- easy target). <BR>

Huh. If they're anything like the old DEC RL02 drives, people used to
take 'em apart and make clocks out of the platters by putting
clockworks in the center.
