<p class=MsoNormal><font size=3 face="Times New Roman"><span style='font-size:
12.0pt'>Thanks for the file Brian. I tried to work on getting my NIC installed,
but I was unsuccessful. Neat thing is I end up learning new things. I booted
Fedora13 i686 using a USB key and copied that .ko file onto the desktop. I then
moved it into the "modules" folder (something along the lines of
/lib/modules/kernel_version/net, it's not written in stone). Based on the
instructions from this blog post [1], I tried, but was thoroughly confused by
the end of the night. :)<br>
<br>
I noticed that there isn't a /etc/modules.conf file. So; I created one. I'm
wondering if I should go ahead and install Fedora 13 i686 and go from there.
I'm concerned about NOT having internet access during installation - if that
affects the final build of the machine? I noticed that none of the
changes I do stick (after reboot), so maybe I'm wasting my time by trying to
get the NIC to work on Live?<br>
<br>
Well; I ended up moving the r8168.ko file into a "realtek" folder
under /lib/modules/kernel_version/net, but I couldn't successfully modprobe it.
I did learn that my NIC device wasn't loaded. When I did a ifconfig only
"lo" was shown. So; now I need to figure out how to load my NIC
device manually!<br>
<br>
Amazing. I think if I buy a new motherboard (or get a PCI LAN), I can bypass
this pain... ah I mean learning. I would kill for an RPM right now!<br>
