</div>It depends on what matters. For Capacity/Dollar, SSDs come up poorly.<br>
For IOPS/Dollar, the absolutely obliterate rotating media.<br>

If you have to buy dozens of hard drives in a fancy RAID appliance to<br>
get the same performance you'd get from a couple of SSDs, SSDs start to<br>
look at lot more economical.<br></blockquote><div><br>Not to mention the power requirements of SSD are lower. And thus the cooling is less of an issue as well. However, the data redundancy of multiple hard drives is affordable. <br>
