esound is network aware and so is it's modern replacement, pulseaudio (please - no boos or hissing). Both are a chore but will allow sound generated on the server to be played on the client.<br><br>Check out the LTSP pages for details.<br>

We have thin clients connect to a server, thus the apps are running on<br>
the server. Problem is, they'd like to hear a sound when they get an<br>
email in thunderbird. Apparently the protocol used does not support<br>
this sound. Anyone addressed this issue?<br>
