OK it sounds like I should probably lean towards LPIC-1 or Redhat
certifications.
two more questions guys and I'll stop bugging everyone.
1. How much does the certification tests for RHCE and LPIC-1 cost?

IIRC LPI 101 and 102 cost $130 each, you need both.

RHCE is a heft $750? It is 100% practical. If you can't do it with
your eyes close (configure NFS, email, samba, DNS forward caching, fix
boot issues, networking issues, ftp, etc) don't waste your time and
money.

Where do you live? I live in Marietta and have been studying on my
own. I could use a partner for the RHCE.
2. are there any kind of classes, etc. that would help me prepare for
these exams?

LPI is pure memorization. get a book. read it. do it. when you score
+80% on practice tests, you are ready for the real tests.
I haven't worked a lot with Linux for the past several years so I'm a
bit rusty. The last Admin experience I had was with Redhat based LTSP
servers and with NCR based X-Terminals but that was back in 2005. Beyond
this I did setup and administrate a Linux base Hylafax server at my last
job.
I've got 9 years of IT related job experience, but in todays market you
have to do whatever you can to stand out from the crowd as there are
literally hundreds of applicants for any given job.
I've only had a few job interviews since I became unemployed back in
December. The most Memorable was the first and second interview with a
certain "Geeky" IT company in Alpharetta where after being called back
for a second interview I was informed via email that I didn't get the
job because they felt I was overqualified for it.
To say the least that hurt my pride, I thought I was a shoe-in for the job.
Thanks for the advice, and if this got too far off topic please accept
my apologies.

I just took the LPIC-1 certification tests this weekend and overall thought that
the tests did a fair job of guaranteeing that the candidate have a basic amount
of technical knowledge and experience. The LPIC-1 certification just covers
generic tasks though (users, file systems, permissions, etc), and doesn't really
touch on any applications, which is what I think most employers would be
interested in. From what I can tell LPIC-2 is more intended for that.
I've got some extra vouchers for 10% off the LPI tests if you decide to go that
route.
Thanks,

I'm currently unemployed and looking into getting some new
certifications to help me get a new job.
I currently only have CompTIA A+ certification.
I was thinking about getting CompTIA Linux+ or CompTIA Network+
certifications.
Are these worth getting or would there be a better certification for me
to get.
I don't have a lot of money to work with as my unemployment check only
goes so far so I want to make sure whatever I get is worth getting and
will help me get a new job soon.
