While I don't have any hands on experience, if your budget allows, I would look for one with the nVidiia ION chipset. You will get MUCH better video performance since it includes nVidia 9400 video chipset and longer battery life (all else being equal) than with the "stock" Intel 945G chipset. The price on these seems to be in the $500 range. Brand wise, ASUS created the whole netbook segment with the Eee and as I recall from a recent vendor showcase, ASUS gives a 1 yr warranty that includes screen breakage at no extra charge. This may only apply to notebooks and not the netbooks, but it is worth checking out.
Heres the one that I was looking at MicroCenter

http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0326168

which is the Acer Aspire One - N450, 1 GB (expandable to 2GB), 160 GB
hard drive...

for $299, it is has a good feature mix.. seems relatively peppy under
Windows, will
taking in a USB stick to try it out under Linux next...

The other option I am thinking about the Toshiba netbook loaded with
OpenSolaris and Windows that Sun is pushing through their website...
a bit more money though.
