I would like to take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Joshua
Roberts. I am a student at Lanier Technical College "LTC" (Forsyth
Campus). I am working toward an AAS in the Networking Specialist
Degree program of study. I currently have succeeded in acquiring the
A+ certification and as of "TODAY!!" I have a CCNA certification. I
am currently in my last term of the CCNP curriculum at LTC and am
hoping to finish those cert exams by end of summer this year, if not
earlier. Afterward, I am planning to apply to SPSU (Southern
Polytechnic State University) for a BASIT (Bachelors of Applied Science
and Information Technology).

I am also the founder and chair of the newly formed LTC LUG NUTS, a
small but very active Linux Users Group. We have already hosted one
community meeting where Aaron Ruscetta and Stephen Blevins gave a
fabulous and informative presentation on Linux and what its role in the
world truly is. We are also hosting another meeting at the end of this
month that is going to focus on Ubuntu desktop, how to install, tweak
and maintain the operating system. This event will take place Jan
28th, 6:30pm, Lanier Technical College, Forsyth Campus, Room A237. The
presentation will be given, to the best of my knowledge, by Nick Ali
and Aaron Ruscetta. My thanks to these men for donating their time and
experience. <br>
Currently the goals of the LTC LUG NUTS include building a webpage,
learning how to implement an agile project management structure in our
group environment, scheduling further community meetings, and building
a good report with the surrounding businesses, non-profits, and
community organizations.

I have already successfully deployed a local caching repository server
to provide the accessible campus with updates and downloads pertaining
to Linux.
<br>
<br>
I am currently working on a new segment for the student meetings in
which we discuss one or more related Linux commands or management tasks
as a way to improve on our overall knowledge of Linux. Currently most
of the members are very new to Linux and have very little experience in
working with command lines. I would like to make a series of short
presentations that will build upon each other in such a way that it
will encourage people to try using the command line on their own. If
anyone has any ideas pertaining to this goal please feel free to share
your ideas.

I have worked very hard to get this group started and I would like to
see it grow and thrive far beyond my graduation.
<br>
Any support that the ALE community can provide to our fledgling group
will be much appreciated and looked forward to.
