I have used the Clear Motorola Ethernet modems. I have two setup in a dual WAN configuration running attached to a dual wan router. I know it's not quite as portable as the USB unit but the Motorola stand alone Ethernet modem works well with Linux setups. It seems to me in my mind that if the USB modems work in OSX that it would not be a huge stretch to get it running in Linux, what about the possibility of using the windows drivers in Linux I have a Belkin Wifi N card that I do this with Ubuntu?<div>
My disappointment with Clear back in October is the sales person claimed that they would roam in 3G networks (I later found out this was not the case with the $25 dollar accounts) needles to say my client canceled the accounts and returned the USB clear devices when we finally tested the 3G capable units but then came to find out that these accounts required a significant amount more per month to run (more than double)<br>

<div><br></div><div>That said the service sucked and I couldn't use it on my Mac either. My opinion is that the frequency they are on is very line of sight. It doesn't matter if you are very close to a tower if you can't actually see the tower (trees, houses in the way) you won't get any signal. I am very close to there tower north of Woodstock and I could not use it at home. On the road I could not get it to work inside any of the offices I frequent (Alpharetta, Norcross, 600 block of Pine St) or my car. If you don't mind staying outside it seemed OK on my laptop.<div>
