They (and google) profit as soon as someone clicks that add. The idea is that they buy the term 'open office download' from google. Any time a webpage is rendered that has related (contextually) content, that ad is displayed and when someone clicks on it, they share a profit with the page that's hosting the ad. He may get emails from people who give it out on the website, but that's all.<br>

Dennis,<br>You missed the point. The ad creator has NOTHING to do with OpenOffice. This is their scam to get working email addresses to feed into the spam engines. They profit. Google profits. And OpenOffice.org gets the blame for an increase in spam on an unsuspecting user.<br>
