Ale'ers apologies for this most off topic of question but the windows forums dont seem to have the answer.

I am in progress of moving a 1ghz amd system to a phenom Quad core board. To make the transition easy on the not as techie as they could be relative I tried to switch the drive doing the old "set the ide drivers to the MS-generic" trick but it appears the new bios dosnt read the hdd as the exact same size as the old Mobo's so windows is whining about the hdd controller and not starting..Recovery console can read the install and modify it so I know it COULD read it. Just can't figure out how to get the installed windows to do so..Any help would be super appreciated...Next step is to get them a new sata drive and just back up their old ide drive to a directory structure on the drive with a brand new install of XP(slight throw up in back of throat where appropriate)
