<html><body><div>I have a windows vista ultimate box that has a folder shared. I also have a Ubuntu 8.04 box that needs to have access to the windows share. I have tried a ton of things, but just can't figure it out.</div>

<div>When I try the following command:</div>
<div><EM>mount -t cifs //192.168.1.129/pictures /media/pictures/ -o user='jeramey beck'</EM></div>
<div>ubuntu prompts me for my password...I enter the password and everything gets mounted and everything SEEMS fine. But when I try to read or write any data to/from this mount it is SOOOOOOOO slow that I just give up. The data is a collection of pictures...nothing real big...between 2 & 4MB each.</div>

<div>Is there anything else that I can try? I have also tried using samba and that hasn't helped yet either. </div>

<div>Of note when I tried these steps on a Fedora 9 box the speed was much, much, much faster...like a normal transfer.</div>
