try fedora 9 on that thing. I've been quite happy with it on a thinkpad T43 and am about to put it on a T20. Granted the T-series is a better platform for the opensource than the R-sderies is but the thinkpad pages show good success.
Hi All,

I hope I don't get flak for this, but I'm looking for a distro to put on my IBM ThankPad R40. It has an ATI video card, 40BG Harddrive, 15" monitor with max resolution at 1024x768. I tried OpenSUSE 10, but I didn't like it so much. I've done some searching and it's a toss up between Debian, Gentoo, and Mandriva. If anyone has any suggestions - I'd love to hear it. Thanks.
